About FunkyFoof

FunkyFoof was created on November 29th, 2004 - roughly three weeks after the infamous 41% OFF coupon that DELL flitted as bait for about three hours. The code was available for free online to anyone who took the time to look for it, yet I noticed that some were selling the code on eBay for upwards of $15.

I used the code to buy a fully-stocked Dimension XPS, two 20.1 inch flat-panel monitors, and an Inspiron 600m laptop computer. Since I knew the code was available only fleetingly, I sent a quick email to my friends;

"Here's a code for 41% OFF practically everything DELL is selling..."

I later found out that email looked so much like spam, that nearly everyone who had a chance to read it simply trashed it. Money down the drain as far as I'm concerned. Especially since these were the very people constantly hounding me to help them find a good deal on a computer, laptop, digital camera, etc.

My friends and acquaintances are always asking me where the best place to buy a laptop is, what is the best digital camera for the money, how much do they need to spend for a decent home theater system, and so on. I specifically remember when everyone at work was going through the PDA phase. I must have repeated the same advice dozens of times every time someone wondered what's the most PDA they can get for whatever they can afford. Although giving advice has always been enjoyable, repetition is not.

Hence the birth of www.FUNKYFOOF.com.

Why the name? Well, that was my nickname back in high school - coined by a close friend we all referred to as Bizzo. I use it here as a reference to the loyalty my friends had towards me, and the loyalty that I've always had to everyone who sought my advice.
